Job description

As the 3rd Steward/General Hand , you will provide essential support to the guest services team and contribute to the overall smooth operation of the vessel. In addition to assisting with guest accommodations, dining, and bar services, you will also be responsible for handling tasks such as mooring the boat, supplying wood for the engine, assisting guests with luggage, and general cleaning. Your diverse skill set and strong work ethic will ensure a comfortable and enjoyable experience for guests while maintaining efficient vessel operations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES

  1. Guest Accommodation Assistance:
    • Help prepare and maintain guest cabins, ensuring cleanliness and attention to detail.
    • Assist guests with inquiries and requests related to accommodations.
  2. Dining and Bar Services Support:
    • Assist dining room staff in providing excellent service during meals and at the bar.
    • Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages to guests at the bar, following recipes and preferences.
  3. Mooring and Vessel Operations:
    • Assist with mooring the boat using ropes, ensuring the vessel is securely docked and stable.
    • Support crew members in handling vessel operations as needed.
  4. Supplying Wood for Engine:
    • Supply wood to the boat for the engine, ensuring the vessel has the necessary fuel for smooth operations.
    • Monitor wood stock levels and report any discrepancies to the appropriate crew member.
  5. Handling Guests’ Luggage:
    • Assist guests with loading and unloading luggage when they board and disembark from the boat.
    • Ensure guests’ luggage is handled with care and delivered to the appropriate cabins.
  6. General Cleaning and Maintenance:
    • Perform general cleaning tasks on the vessel, including communal areas, decks, and other facilities.
    • Assist with daily maintenance and upkeep of the boat to keep it clean and well-maintained.
  7. Health and Safety Compliance:
    • Follow health and safety regulations, including food safety standards and sanitation practices.
    • Participate in training sessions to enhance knowledge of safety protocols.
  8. Event and Activity Support:
    • Support the execution of onboard events and activities.
    • Collaborate with other team members to ensure smooth operations.

ACADEMIC OR TRADE QUALIFICATIONS

  • Previous experience in hospitality, tourism, or customer service is an asset.
  • Experience with manual labor tasks such as mooring, handling ropes, and physical work is beneficial.
  • Strong attention to detail and customer service skills.
  • Experience in bar work, including preparing and serving alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.
  • Familiarity with health and safety regulations.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work well as part of a team and adapt to changing demands.
  • Willingness to learn and take on diverse responsibilities as part of a supportive crew.
