Job description

As the 2nd Steward, you will play a critical role in supporting the Chief Steward in delivering exceptional guest services. You will assist with overseeing accommodations, dining, bar services, and other aspects of hospitality on board. Your attention to detail and strong customer service skills will contribute to a welcoming and comfortable environment for guests. You will also lead and guide the 3rd Steward in their duties

Key responsibilities & duties

  1. Guest Accommodation Management:
    • Assist with the preparation and maintenance of guest cabins, ensuring they are clean, comfortable, and well-equipped.
    • Respond to guest requests related to accommodations and work closely with the housekeeping team.
  2. Dining and Bar Services:
    • Support the dining room staff and coordinate with the culinary team to provide smooth dining experiences for guests.
    • Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages to guests at the bar, following recipes and preferences.
    • Ensure guests receive excellent service during meals and at the bar, helping address dietary restrictions and preferences.
  3. Guest Interaction and Service:
    • Act as a point of contact for guests, providing information and assistance as needed.
    • Assist with handling guest concerns and complaints, working to resolve issues professionally and efficiently.
  4. Inventory and Supply Management:
    • Assist in managing the inventory of guest supplies, amenities, and bar stock, ensuring stock levels are maintained.
    • Help monitor usage and costs to maintain budgets and minimize waste.
  5. Event and Activity Support:
    • Support the execution of onboard events and activities, providing assistance to the Chief Steward and Cruise Director.
    • Collaborate with other departments as needed to ensure smooth event operations.
  6. Health and Safety Compliance:
    • Follow health and safety regulations, including food safety standards and sanitation practices.
    • Participate in training sessions and maintain awareness of emergency procedures.
  7. Team Support:
    • Assist in leading the 3rd Steward in their duties, providing guidance and support to help them grow in their role.
    • Collaborate with other stewards to maintain high-quality service and efficient operations.

 

Academic or trade qualifications

  • Previous experience in hospitality, tourism, or guest services is beneficial.
  • Strong customer service skills and attention to detail.
  • Experience in bar work, including preparing and serving alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.
  • Familiarity with health and safety regulations.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
